Reporting GAAP net investment income of $0.48 per share and core net investment income of $0.50 per share (excluding estimated excise taxes), Stellus surpassed its declared dividend of $0.40 per share, demonstrating consistent income strength and commitment to shareholder returns.

Steady Dividends and Expanding Investment Portfolio

In Q2 2024, Stellus reaffirmed its focus on shareholder value with a declared dividend of $0.40 per share. The company’s investment portfolio reached $900 million, spanning 100 portfolio companies—up from $876 million across 94 companies in the previous quarter. Stellus invested $53 million in eight new portfolio companies, showcasing its strategic expansion in diverse sectors.

Additionally, repayments totaling $40.7 million contributed to the company’s strong liquidity position, further enhancing its financial flexibility.

Positive Equity Gains and Capital Raises Reflect Market Confidence

The company achieved a $2 million gain (or $0.08 per share) on an equity investment, signaling effective portfolio management. Stellus issued $25.2 million in shares at $13.89 per share, above net asset value, indicating strong investor confidence.

Addressing Asset Quality with Proactive Loan Management

The company reported a $0.05 decrease in NAV per share due to unrealized depreciation on select investments. Currently, 2.9% of Stellus’s total loan portfolio by fair value is in nonaccrual status, reflecting some asset quality challenges. Stellus is actively managing these nonaccrual loans, with targeted strategies for resolution to maintain portfolio health.

Strategic Growth Amid Cautious Credit Environment

With a strong balance sheet and unused credit facility, Stellus aims to grow its portfolio to over $1 billion. CEO Robert Ladd emphasized a cautious approach to credit facility use, aligning it with capital growth amid uncertainty.
