Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) ranks seventh because the social media giant has generally remained in Jim Cramer’s good books despite a continuing debate over whether its artificial intelligence spending has become too aggressive. That debate is not a minor issue. Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) is committing extraordinary amounts of money to processors, data centers, energy capacity, custom chips and advanced AI research. Investors understand the strategic objective: the company wants to improve advertising, recommendation systems, business messaging, content creation and future consumer devices. What remains less certain is how quickly the spending will generate additional revenue and whether the returns will justify the scale of the investment.

Cramer’s position has been constructive but not blindly enthusiastic. He has publicly asked for more justification of the company’s capital expenditures, reflecting a broader concern on Wall Street that chief executive Mark Zuckerberg may be building infrastructure faster than the business can monetize it. Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) increased its 2026 capital-expenditure outlook, renewing investor anxiety over free cash flow and the timing of AI returns. The concern is reasonable, but it should also be placed beside the strength of the company’s advertising engine. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger give Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) access to billions of users, enormous amounts of engagement data and a global base of advertisers that can immediately benefit from better targeting and automated creative tools.

The investment thesis ultimately rests on whether artificial intelligence makes those existing platforms more valuable. Better recommendation algorithms can increase the amount of time users spend watching videos and browsing content. Improved advertising systems can help businesses generate stronger returns, encouraging them to spend more. AI-powered agents could also turn WhatsApp and Messenger into larger commercial platforms where companies handle customer service, sales and payments. This means Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) does not necessarily need to invent an entirely new business to earn returns from AI; it can apply the technology to some of the most profitable digital platforms already operating.

Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) remains below the top half of the ranking because the size of its capital commitment has raised the standard of proof. Investors are no longer satisfied with broad promises that artificial intelligence will improve engagement someday. They want measurable revenue, stronger margins or a credible path toward monetization. Cramer’s continued interest reflects the quality of the core business, but the spending question will remain attached to Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) until the company demonstrates that its massive AI infrastructure program can generate returns at a similar scale.
