Palm Valley Capital Management has released its third-quarter 2026 investor letter for the Palm Valley Capital Fund. The fund gained 1.61% during the quarter, outperforming the S&P SmallCap 600 Index, which declined 7.93%, and the Morningstar Small Cap Total Return Index, which fell 5.60%. Treasury bills accounted for 75.5% of the fund’s assets at quarter-end, while its equity holdings returned 4.8%.
The letter examines a market in which small-cap stocks lagged their larger peers even as the S&P 500 approached its highs. The managers draw parallels between sharp stock-price swings in a rising market and conditions during the technology bubble. They also question whether policies aimed at preserving today’s wealth come at the expense of future prosperity, arguing that rising asset prices deepen economic disparities while shifting financial burdens to future generations. Citing federal debt exceeding $40 trillion, the managers frame the debate around how wealth and obligations are distributed across generations, alongside the familiar divide between rich and poor.
Reynolds Consumer Products Inc. (NASDAQ:REYN) is a household products manufacturer specializing in cooking, baking, food storage, waste disposal, and disposable tableware. Its products include aluminum foil, baking papers, disposable pans, trash bags, and storage products sold through businesses such as Reynolds Cooking & Baking and Hefty Waste & Storage. On October 29, 2026, its shares closed at $23.60, an increase of 2.39% from the previous session, with a market capitalization of approximately $4.97 billion.
Here’s what Palm Valley Capital Management has to say about Reynolds Consumer Products Inc. (NASDAQ:REYN):
“Shares of Reynolds Consumer Products may be suffering from volatility in the aluminum market, which was impacted in the quarter from new tariffs placed on Canadian imports. Canada accounts for roughly half of the U.S. aluminum supply. Reynolds delivered decent second quarter results with price increases offsetting volume declines. Operating profit rose in the quarter from gains in the company’s foil (Reynolds Wrap) and home and tableware businesses, which were partly offset by lower profits from the Hefty Waste division due to aggressive promotional activity from competitors (Clorox’s Glad). Management contends that demand for foil has held up despite significant price increases for aluminum foil because the price gap to private label has been steady. It helps that Reynolds supplies most private label foil.”
Reynolds Consumer Products Inc. (NASDAQ: REYN) announced on October 29, 2026, that its board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.23 per common share, payable on November 30, 2026, to shareholders of record on November 16, 2026. The household products manufacturer is also scheduled to report third-quarter results on November 4, 2026, with management hosting an earnings webcast at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
