9. Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE:DECK)
Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE: DECK) ranks ninth after reporting a quarter that was respectable but not powerful enough to satisfy investors accustomed to much faster growth from HOKA and UGG. First-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue increased 5.7% to $1.02 billion, marking the first time Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE: DECK) generated more than $1 billion in first-quarter sales. Diluted earnings per share reached $0.94, compared with $0.93 in the same period last year, while management raised its full-year diluted EPS forecast to between $7.35 and $7.50. ained the largest contributor during the quarter, with brand sales increasing 7.7% to $703.5 million. UGG sales rose 4.9% to $278 million. Direct-to-consumer sales were particularly encouraging, climbing 13%, while international revenue increased 8.4%. Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE: DECK) also continued returning capital to shareholders, repurchasing approximately $338 million of stock during the quarter and ending the period with no outstanding borrowings. That combination of brand strength, international expansion, a debt-free balance sheet and aggressive share repurchases gives the company several qualities long-term investors normally want. ern is that HOKA’s growth has slowed from the double-digit rates investors previously treated as normal. Total company operating income also declined to $155.3 million from $165.3 million, even as revenue increased. Higher selling, general and administrative expenses contributed to the pressure, while tariffs, freight expenses and cautious consumer behavior could continue affecting margins. Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE: DECK) still has premium brands capable of gaining market share, but the market is no longer satisfied with an ordinary quarter from a company that had previously delivered extraordinary growth.
Chief Executive Officer Stefano Caroti remains confident that a compelling product pipeline can help HOKA and UGG attract customers even as household budgets become more pressured. That argument has merit. HOKA has expanded beyond serious runners into everyday lifestyle footwear, while UGG has gradually become a broader, multi-season brand rather than a business dependent entirely on winter boots. Product launches, international distribution and selective partnerships with higher-quality retailers could help restore stronger growth during the second half of the fiscal year.
Nevertheless, Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE: DECK) is a consumer discretionary stock operating in an environment where buyers are becoming more selective. The company has strong brands and an excellent balance sheet, but investors must determine whether slower growth represents a temporary pause or the beginning of a more mature phase. That uncertainty keeps Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE: DECK) at No. 9.
