7. AXT Inc. (NASDAQ:AXTI)

AXT, Inc. (NASDAQ: AXTI) operates in a specialized but strategically important segment of the semiconductor materials market, producing compound semiconductor substrates used in optoelectronics, telecommunications infrastructure, and high-speed data applications. These materials—including gallium arsenide and indium phosphide—serve as foundational components for devices that enable advanced communications and photonics technologies.

The company reported its fiscal fourth quarter and full-year 2025 results on February 19, with quarterly revenue reaching $23 million compared to $28 million in the previous quarter. Gross margins for the quarter came in at 20.9%, while full-year revenue totaled $88.3 million compared to $99.4 million in the prior year.

Analysts responded with mixed but generally constructive views. B. Riley lifted its price target on AXTI stock to $21 while maintaining a Neutral rating, noting that the company’s sales and earnings per share were broadly in line with earlier guidance. The firm cautioned that indium phosphide revenue declined due to export permit limitations in China, a factor that may keep the stock range-bound until regulatory clarity improves.

Wedbush, however, adopted a more optimistic stance by raising its price target to $28 and maintaining an Outperform rating. The firm argued that the growth potential of indium phosphide materials—used in high-speed optical communications and advanced semiconductor applications—could justify a significantly higher valuation multiple as demand accelerates in coming years.
